Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Establishing a Central Valley College Promise giving two years of community college free for qualifying high school seniors
  • Engaging stakeholder voices by having YCCD Board meetings outside of Modesto and holding regular town halls before important decisions
  • Strengthening Central Valley power in state affairs by bringing together staff, student, and faculty legislative bodies for coordinated advocacy

Kevin was born and raised in Oakdale, the Cowboy Capital of the World. After graduating from Oakdale High where he participated in their award-winning Marching Mustangs and Academic Decathlon teams, he enrolled at Modesto Junior College. Kevin immediately got involved with the Associated Students during the budget cuts of the recession and brought hundreds of students to the State Capitol in Sacramento to protest the state's divestment from public higher education.

He spent his last year at MJC serving as student body president and prioritized rebuilding relationships between students and other stakeholders such as faculty, staff, and administrators. He later served two terms as Vice President of the Student Senate for California Community Colleges, representing nearly three million students, the largest student organization in the nation.

Kevin then transferred to UC Berkeley where his advocacy continued as Director of Legislative Affairs leading the Lobby Corps, a group of students dedicated to legislative advocacy in Sacramento and D.C. His team conducted more trips to the state and national capitals than any other year in its history. During his time in the UC, Kevin completed two terms in the leadership of the University of California Student Association - first as Chair of the Board of Directors and then as President.
