Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Create a strategic plan that focuses on infrastructure maintenance and development that includes budgeting. Streets, water, energy, and protecting our natural resources.
  • Maintaining Carpinteria's small town charm with policies and plans that are based on the input of our Community
  • Promote and support our Youth programs and leadership developmemnt, as these are our future leaders.

I have been an active member of the Carpinteria community since bringing my family here 40 years ago. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in horticulture from Cal Poly SLO, I started a local landscape contracting business, which I continue to manage.

My commitment to public service includes over 20 years of continuous service on the Architectural Review Board, and on the Carpinteria City Council. I have been actively involved in reviewing neighborhood and city planning guidelines, and projects for Carpinteria. I also serve as President of the Carpinteria Boys & Girls Foundation, have 30 years of coaching youth sports, and am a member of the Carpinteria Chamber. I am a member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Carpinteria Morning, 2011-2012 Rotary International District Governor, and was the project general coordinator of the Tomol Interpretive Play Area. I have traveled the world supporting water and sanitation projects, polio eradication efforts, and community and economic development, and received Rotary International’s highest individual honor, the “Service Above Self” award for volunteerism in and outside of Rotary.

In January of 2012, I was honored to be named “Carpinterian of the Year” with my wife, Roxanne, for our community involvement.

My public service and business experience, as well as my familiarity with the city government, will help me make well-rounded decisions as a councilmember.

I will support Carpinteria’s commitment to preserving our environmental treasures, champion programs that teach children how to become leaders in our community, and sustain our small beach town charm.

As a Rotarian, I have done my best to live by the Four Way Test

  1. Is it the Truth

  2. Is it Fair to all concerned

  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?

  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

In doing so, I have found that it is essential to consider how a decision can affect everyone. It is also difficult to make decisions that will benefit 100% of the people, 100% of the time. Being open and objective, and approaching decisions with an open mind, does help the process, along with research and a better understanding of the issues. This is where the Four Way Test comes into play. It sets a standard that takes into account how a decision will benefit everyone in the future. As a decision maker for the City, this is an essential step in doing the job effectively, efficiently, and fair.
