I am a first generation Latina-American dedicated to public service. I began working for a fast food chain at the age of 15.  I was hired by the Probation Department when I was 21 years old.  I worked a variety of assignments, involving investigations and supervision of serious juvenile and adult offenders.  I was also trained and armed to work with police officers while assigned to the gang suppression unit. At night, while working full time, I attended law school.

While working as a probation officer and attending law school I also started my family. I had two children during law school and while pregnant with my third, passed the Bar Exam, on my first attempt.  After I passed the California State Bar Exam I applied to two agencies, the Orange County District Attorney and the FBI.  I am honored and humbled to have been offered a job with both agencies.  As a young mother of three, I chose to accept the position with the District Attorney. Since then I have dedicated myself to prosecuting child molesters, rapists, and career criminals.

My tenure as a DDA and my life experience have exposed me to the worst of the worst. However, it wasn't until I challenged a Judge, who was censured and admitted to abusing his position that I learned the extent of the vileness that plagues our community. It was a known fact that the censured judge had engaged in sexual relations with his law students by promising them employment with the District Attorney. Yet, Although the allegations were substantiated, admitted and known, several members of the Board of Supervisors, the District Attorney, and many Judges endorsed and funded this judges re-election.  This was when I knew that those with power want to keep power and keep their friends in power, without any regard for the voters that elected them, or the promises they made in order to get elected.  Those promises are still being made by many of the same individuals in this year's election.

The opposition I faced from the Orange County elite, my 30 years experience, and a strong desire to be the People's voice has led me to run for Congress.  I have chosen to do this without the support of either party or solicited endorsements. I am not a politician nor have I ever envisioned a career in politics.  For years I have strived to be the voice of the abused and oppressed in the courtroom.  Today I am seeking election to be the voice of the voters in a system saturated with individuals who want to have power, abuse power and promote cronyism without any regard for the common every day people that elected and trusted them.

I am no-nonsense, fair minded and tough on crime. I am a child of immigrants who taught me to work hard and be humble. I am a fighter for women, children, and justice. I am beholden to no one, but you, the voters.

The time has come for the people to be represented.

Send me to Washington to fight for California.
