My name is Matthew Harper and I am your California State Assemblyman. I represent the citizens of Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Irvine, Laguna Woods and Laguna Beach. I grew up here in Orange County and attended our local public schools.

My wife Elizabeth and I are homeowners in Huntington Beach and we both graduated from Huntington Beach High School.

I deeply care about Orange County and I believe I can make a difference. We need to demand better from our government and your vote will affirm my efforts to send a message to Sacramento.

Prior to my election to represent you in the Assembly, I served as Huntington Beach Mayor for my final year on the Huntington Beach City Council. Before that, I served on the Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD) Board of Trustees. I believe that California can do so much better in educating our children and will further challenge the bureaucracy to improve our schools, reduce class size and achieve better performance.

I respect our surf heritage and will defend our beach bonfire rings.

I have the experience, qualifications and energy to get the job done. I understand Orange County values. Help me to cut the red tape, stop the tax increases, protect Proposition 13 and get California moving again so jobs can start coming back.

Please join me. Mark your sample ballot or vote-by-mail ballot today to re-elect Assemblyman Matthew Harper. Thank you for your consideration.
