I am proudly the daughter of immigrant parents. My mother and father, who worked all their lives to offer me a better life, are who I inherited my values and culture that's rooted in my heart. My parents taught me to respect all people regardless of their social class, religion, or sexuality. From them I learned the importance of having integrity, honesty and always offering help to those less fortunate than us.

I grew up all my life in Lennox, but as it is usually for many of our students, I also had to go to high school in another city. In my case, I studied in the city of Manhattan Beach. I immediately noticed the huge difference in the educational experience between Manhattan Beach and Lennox. The quality of education is indisputably better. What amazed me is the enthusiastic involvement of students and parents in all aspects of education. In contrast to our district, parental involvement is valued and promoted by the school district. My experience with school districts that have better academic services and richer and more participatory educational experiences for the students and their parents motivated me to get involved with my community to ensure our students have access to a quality education as other communities enjoy it. Our students deserve better schools and an education that truly prepares them for school and the future in general.

As a member of the Lennox community where I grew up and was educated, my greatest aspiration is to work hand in hand with our community to ensure that all of our students get the quality education they deserve. I have the following goals that are critical to immediately improve the quality of education in our district and enrich the school experience for all of our students and parents: 1) Voice and empowerment for parents; 2) Transparency in all the processes and decisions that the school board makes; 3) Establish mental health programs for our students and families that are affected by advirsity economically, socially, and through all types of violence; 4) Increase Special Education services and support for students and parents; 5) Engage and increase resources and professional training programs for teachers; 6) Improve and promote more advanced classes to prepare our students for college (AP); 7) Establish more after-school and during school support programs.I am aware that no single person can provide our students with the quality education they deserve.

I am aware that this noble goal can only be achieved if we all work together in community. That is my fundamental proposal: that we all work, parents, students and teachers in community to guarantee our students a true education. Education should not be a factory business to generate profits for bureaucrats, contractors, and career politicians who are not interested in the future of our students in the least. Our students are not merchandise to which their dreams, their aspirations, can be sacrificed; nobody should do business with their future. Teachers who work hard every day and give their best for our children should be supported, empowered, and not be used as profit instruments for private interests.

For these reasons I decided to apply for the Centinela Valley UHSD School Board. It would be an honor to receive your support and vote to transform our school district together for the benefit of all of our students.
