CAMPAIGN STATEMENT
You requested more access. I have responded. I am proud to be a Director of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District working to develop a system of preserves that contributes to our health and quality of life. Since joining the board, I advocated for expanded, equitable access for hikers, bicyclists, equestrians, and dog owners. Additionally, I advocated for increased preserve restoration and expanding our successful volunteer program. I proposed an adopted policy to control growth of expenses which led to AAA bond ratings, no loss of service during recessions and millions of dollars in reduced interest. The district’s nearly 65,000 acres of preserved land is a valuable, irreplaceable asset. Our General Manager was charged with significantly increasing public access. The result was a Vision Plan based on community discussions, and the passage of Measure AA in 2014 to implement your priorities. We have opened Mt. Umunhum and La Honda, added dog access to El Sereno, partnered with Saratoga to complete the Saratoga-to-the-Sea trail, and will see Bear Creek Redwoods open in the spring. These are all projects that I successfully advanced on the schedule. I look forward to bringing more of your high priority projects to completion. Pete
