Biografía

My campaign is driven by a lifelong passion for our heavenly peninsula, and I would be honored to have your vote.

As a Bay Area native, conservation advocate, sailor, and someone with over 30 years of experience in commercial property development and management, I will bring an experienced and balanced voice to the Harbor District.  My familiarity with land use issues, leaseholds, and landlord/tenant responsibilities include a sailor’s understanding of marina infrastructure, water quality, and public access around facilities.

As a conservationist, I know that environmental protection is an important part of the whole picture.  With climate change and sea level rise, development and concern for the environment need to go hand in hand.  We need a thoughtful and balanced approach in our decision-making that acknowledges our need for growth while protecting our public spaces, coastlines, and marine sanctuaries.

I have a track record of working for the community.  My broad experience working collaboratively on public policy committees will be an asset to the Commission.  And I look forward to working with fellow commissioners on the District’s ongoing strategic planning to improve safety, protect our thriving fishing industry, and increase educational outreach, visitor services, and access for all County residents.

I currently am a Director of Committee for Green Foothills and serve on the steering committee for the San Mateo County Tree Ordinance Update Project.

s a conservationist, I know that environmental protection is a critical part of any maintenance or development project along our shores. With climate change and sea level rise, development and concern for the environment must go hand in hand.  Ed Larenas and I will bring a thoughtful and balanced approach in our decision-making that acknowledges our need for growth while protecting our public spaces, coastlines, and marine sanctuaries.

The District is currently in capable hands and financially sound due to good management.  Being elected will give me an opportunity to have an influence on hiring the next General Manager. The job is complex: the GM needs the skill to work with all the different stakeholders, to hire good staff, to understand land use issues, deal with leaseholders, commercial fisherman, understand marine and land infrastructure and other marine issues like water quality.  And we need a Commission with the breadth of experience to hire the right person.
