Biografía

I grew up in Southern California and came to the Bay Area for the first time to attend college at Stanford University.  After graduating with a degree in psychology, I returned south to attend UCLA.  There, I earned a Masters in Public Health and my medical degree.  My focus during my time in public health school was on community health with a concentration in public health policy.  After finishing medical school, I completed a combined internal medicine/pediatrics residency at Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center.  After finishing residency I moved back to the Bay Area and settled in San Carlos as I pursued fellowship training in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at Stanford.

After fellowship, I worked for two years at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.  3 years ago I joined the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, where I work today.  As a developmental and behavioral pediatrician most of my practice consists of children with autism, complicated ADHD, learning disabilities, developmental delay and mental health concerns.  Outside of my clinical practice, I have spent many years volunteering with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).  Most recently, I served on the California board representing San Mateo County, co-chaired the Advocacy Committee, and I continue to serve on the State Government Affairs Committee.  In these roles I've been privileged to help shape the AAP's efforts in California to reduce child poverty, toxic stress and fight obesity and gun violence.

While I enjoy my clinical work and volunteer service, the true joy of my life is my family.  We live in San Carlos and have two wonderful kiddos.  One will be attending upper elementary school in the fall and the other starts first grade.  Almost any weekend of the year you can find me on a court/ball field coaching one of them.  (This is by far the most fun thing I do!)

My position on the role of the Healthcare District

Summary

A brief description of why I think the District is important.

In an era of so much uncertainty emanating from the national level on down, local efforts such as the Healthcare District are more important than ever.  The Healthcare District is the perfect example of local funding, under local control, focused on the health and wellness needs of local communities.

As your representative on the Board, I'll work to strengthen the terrific work the District is already doing.  In addition, I will encourage strategic focus on three areas that I think are critical for our community:  child & adolescent mental heath, wellness promotion, and senior care.  Please check out the rest of my website to learn a bit more about me and my ideas.  I would love to have your support on this campaign and your vote in November.
