Biografía

About George
In 2007 my wife and I chose the Menlo Park community of Belle Haven to raise our family. As our family grew, I began to get more involved in our community. In 2011 to 2012 I served on the Belle Haven Community Foundation, an organization that was designed to give Belle Haven a new sense of unity and a more esteemed voice in the greater City of Menlo Park. These are the values that I hold dear, and what ultimately lead me to run for the Menlo Park City Council.

Background
Recently, I served on the San Bruno Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Committee, and was twice elected committee chair. While on the committee, I worked to implement the Walking School Bus (Safe Routes to School) program, to improve pedestrian accessibility for people with disabilities, and to promote safety for cyclists.

As a current member of the Menlo Park Sister City Committee, I support the cultural diversity of our community, and as a permanent board member of the Asian Pacific American Political Association (APAPA), I work tirelessly to ensure that new immigrants are registered to vote and can fully participate in the American democratic process.

Why I’m Running
I am running for the Menlo Park City Council because I am deeply invested in our community, and I share the desire of Belle Haven residents to have our voice heard. I understand the fundamental need to create vibrancy and accessibility in our neighborhood that is equal to the broader area of Menlo Park.  I believe in the importance of community control over decisions that impact our neighborhoods.

Together we will address the growing amount of traffic in our District 1 neighborhood by investing in our transportation infrastructure. We must encourage and support small business, and continue to keep our residents safe. As a parent, I will promote partnerships with our local schools.

The community of Belle Haven is rapidly changing, and now more than ever, our community needs more than an advocate, it requires a strong, knowledgeable and experienced leader on the council to represent our community.

Summary

In 2007, my wife Karen and I chose Belle Haven to raise a family, and as our family grew, I became more involved in our community. In 2011 I became a board member of the Belle Haven Community Foundation, an organization that was designed to give Belle Haven a new sense of unity and a more esteemed voice in the greater City of Menlo Park.

For the first time in Menlo Park’s history, Belle Haven has an opportunity to elect a council member who represents the interests of our neighborhood.

I am deeply invested in our community. I share the desire of residents to have our voice heard. In 2011, I served on the Belle Haven Community Foundation, an organization created to unite our neighborhood, to ensure voice in the greater City of Menlo Park.

As the leading independent voice, I will work hard to address traffic in our neighborhood by researching and investing in transportation infrastructure.

As a homeowner, I will encourage transparency, balanced budgets and work to control costs. As an entrepreneur, I will encourage local business, while streamlining regulations that enforce unnecessary burdens, limiting our community’s potential.

As the Vice Chair of the Menlo Park Sister City Committee, I support the cultural diversity of our community.

The community of Belle Haven is rapidly changing, our community needs more than an advocate, it requires a strong, knowledgeable and experienced leader on the council representing our community.

Our campaign is endorsed by the Mayor of Menlo Park, Peter Ohtaki, along with neighbors and community leaders.
