I have lived in South San Francisco for over 40 years. I grew up with a deep understanding of the inequalities in society and the importance of fighting for social justice. This has made me a strong advocate of equal treatment from an early age. For many children like myself, who grow up in disadvantaged neighborhoods alongside other children of immigrant working families, a better life was difficult to achieve and often unattainable due to the lack of resources or the knowledge of resources available.

I graduated from South San Francisco High School, received an Associate in Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Skyline College, and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Notre Dame de Namur University. I have also completed the Masters in Governance program from the California School Board Association, enriching my knowledge and skills to build and support an effective governance structure.

I began my career with the City of South San Francisco in 2001 in the Public Works Department as an Office Specialist, I worked in various capacities prior to being promoted to the City Manager's office in 2011 as an Administrative Assistant II. In the City Manager's Office I served as Management Analyst/Community Liaison working closely with Elected Officials, members of the Executive Management Team, staff and the community. I coordinated, participated and oversaw programs such as the South San Francisco Citizens' Academy, Community Outreach Program, and the Special Needs Resource Fair, all valuable resources for a diverse group of community members.

In 2015, I became the first Latina elected to serve on the South San Francisco Unified School District Board of Trustees. As a Board Member I have worked diligently to ensure every child in South City receives a high quality education, inclusive of 21st Century skills, Biotechnology and STEM learning opportunities, and College and Career Readiness. My focus has been to improve transparency, fiscal responsibility, and increase graduation rates.

In 2016, I was appointed City Clerk for the City of Pinole. As the department head, I lead my team with integrity and professionalism always ensuring that my staff has the support and tools necessary to succeed. I oversee daily operations and manage both the City Clerk and City Council Budget in a prudent and fiscal manner.

During my two years as City Clerk, I participated in extensive educational sessions and programs to achieve the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC).  I am a California Professional Municipal Clerk (CPMC) and a graduate of the Technical Training for Clerks, a program sponsored by the City Clerks Association of California, in association with the University of California Riverside.

I am committed to provding the highest level of service to the residents of South San Francisco. I respectfully ask for your VOTE on November 6th!

"Credentialed, Qualified, Experienced and Poised for the tasks ahead."

Filosofía política

The City Clerk is the local official who administers democratic processes such as elections, access to city records, and all legislative actions ensuring transparency to the public. The City Clerk acts as a compliance officer for federal, state, and local statues including the Political Reform Act, the Brown Act, and the Public Records Act. The City Clerk manages public inquiries and relationships and arranges for ceremonial and official functions.

Thousands of statutes and regulations exist which protect democracy and provide a system of "checks and balances." It is the city clerk's responsibility to ensure compliance with these laws, which are complex and constantly changing and evolving. The city clerk, as the local official, must have the professional education, training, and knowledge necessary to understand and administer these laws. The city clerk is your partner in democracy.

My experience as a credentialed City Clerk for the City of Pinole, school board member of the South San Francisco Unified School District Board of Education and former Management Analyst for the City of South San Francisco, have prepared me to lead the City Clerk's Office and continue serving our residents. As a long-time resident of South San Francisco, I understand the needs of the community and will ensure that the decision-making process is transparent to the public; complies with federal, state, and local regulations; and is properly recorded.
