Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • More affordable housing compatible with neighborhoods.
  • Address traffic congestion and neighborhood parking issues
  • Maintain and enhance parks and open spaces.

I am a first generation immigrant who came to America 54 years ago with good education and willingness to work hard. A family man, with two kids and four grand kids, I am living American Dream. After 35 years of professional career as electrical engineer, my public service began 9 years ago as a Planning Commissioner in South San Francisco. That is continuing with six years on the City Council, including serving as both Vice Mayor and Mayor. I have been active on the Council's Committees on Budget, Environment, School Coordination and Housing. In San Mateo County, I am serving on Peninsula Clean Energy, Home for All Initiative, and Human Services Agency. On the 9 counties regional level, I have served on the Board of Association of Bay Area Governments for last 4 years. I love serving my neighbors, my community, and the City of South San Francisco as a member of the City Council.

Filosofía política

As your mayor and a councilmember for last 5 years, I have balanced competing goals of preserving South Citys small-town life style, and seizing the available economic opportunity to improve the long term fiscal health and quality of life of our community.

My predecessors created the worlds greatest Biotech cluster, by thoughtful planning of the area East of 101.  While providing critically needed revenues, the expanding cluster has also contributed to city wide traffic problems and a shortage of affordable housing. I have advocated putting new housing East of 101, closer to jobs and with easy access to new Caltrain Station.

Looking at the needs of future generations, I initiated and mentored public-private partnerships to create biotech careers for our students. One proud accomplishment is Genentechs Science Garage” – a bioscience-focused laboratory at South San Francisco High School.

Our Industrial Cityis also shining as innovative and inspirational city, attracting a new generation of diverse young families. I will focus on bridging the gap between generations to achieve harmony and collaboration.
