Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • I want to ensure a good quality of life for our current residents and for future generations by addressing such critical issues, e.g. transportation, parking, the lack of affordable housing and preserving the character of neighborhoods.
  • In order to ensure that Redwood City remains sustainable, we must balance our budget, address our unfunded pension liabilities, and maintain a prudent reserve.
  • We must continue to recruit and retain highly trained, skilled staff in order to provide the essential services our community needs and deserves.

Filosofía política

My name is Diane Howard. I am the current Vice Mayor of Redwood City and I am running for re-election this November. My husband, Steve, and I have lived in Redwood City for thirty-eight years. We love this community and want Redwood City to be the very best place to live, work, and raise a family.

As an elected official, I have championed for citizen involvement and community participation in the City’s decision-making processes. I helped develop Redwood City’s General Plan and Downtown Precise Plan and spearheaded the renaissance of our Downtown with the development of Courthouse Plaza and the multiplex theater complex.

I also helped with the creation of a successful recycled water program, the renovations of multiple parks and playgrounds, and two new community centers.

I will use my skill in getting things done to address issues that matter to us now: managing our successful Downtown and its traffic and parking challenges; creating more housing opportunities; maintaining the architectural character of our neighborhoods; advancing more transportation options, including ferry service; and increasing recreational opportunities. I helped initiate both the City-YMCA partnership to create a new Senior Center and YMCA multi-use, intergenerational facility and the all-inclusive Magical Bridge Playground. I will also ensure that our City remains financially stable while addressing our pension obligations.

I am fiscally conservative and every year I have been on Council have had a balanced budget with prudent reserves. Redwood City’s bond rating is one of the highest based on our history of fiscal responsibility.

My experience and track record demonstrate that I can deliver results. Enhancing the quality of life for our community will always be my top priority. I respectfully ask for your support this November.
