University of Portland Bachelor of Arts, Political Science (2016)

My name is Monica Resendiz, I am 29 years old,  I have been living in the area for more than 25 years. I was raised in Pescadero since the age of three and I am proud to call this area my home. I attended Pescadero schools since Pre-school. I graduated from Pescadero High School in 2007. I finally graduated from Cañada with an AA in Liberal Studies; transferred to the University of Portland, in Oregon. I graduated with my BA in Political Science and minor in Spanish in 2016. I pursued a career in law and worked 2 years as a legal assistant in workers compensation and accident law firms. When I started getting home sick I made the decision to move back home and used my knowledge to help students in my community. I worked for a as the After School Director at PES and as an ESL teacher. I transitioned this year to Puente and I am currently the Education Associate. I help other students like myself to achieve their educational aspirations.

Filosofía política

I have been a Pescadero community member, volunteer and Pescadero I attended all Pescadero Schools. After receiving a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Portland, I returned to Pescadero to work as the After School Director and as an ESL teacher. I am currently working as the Education Associate at Puente de la Costa Sur, a resource center for the surrounding area. I will work to improve community involvement by bridging communication between schools, staff and parents. If elected, I will work to provide a curriculum that reflects the surrounding population and to include a bilingual environment that will allow all students to succeed. I am dedicated in helping staff receive the support they need to better their classrooms, in hopes that there will be a rise in school pride. If you elect me, I promise you will see changes happen. My experience as a student, teachers’ aide and community advocate gives me the knowledge to create a successful district for staff and future scholars. Please support me and let's give our local youth the best education they deserve!
