•  I have deep roots in this district — my entire family has attended Imperial schools including my siblings, husband, children, and grandchildren. I’m also proud to say that both of my parents were former IUSD employees.

  Community-oriented: 

• 40 years in Girl Scouting in the Imperial Valley, serving as a Leader, Service Unit Manager and currently Lead Recruitment Volunteer (2016-present) 
• 4 California 4-H Youth Development Program Civic Engagement Advisory Committee Adult Volunteer (2015-present) 
• 4 Imperial County 4-H – Youth Leadership Advisor, All Star Ambassador (2014–present) 
• 4 Southwest Valley 4-H Club (Imperial) Adult Volunteer/Leader, various Still Life & STEM projects (2015-present) 
• Recently retired from a successful full-service public relations and marketing firm formed with a business partner in 2004

I am inspired by our community and honored to be a part of preparing our students for the future, which is why I have re-filed for a position on the Board. 

Being on the school board requires a significant investment of time and I have spent the last five years working on academic progress, classroom engagement, student opportunities, teacher and staff support, advocacy for public education, sound budget practices, safety issues, increased transparency and communication, all leading up to planning for our current students moving toward their future and leaving a foundation for future students to achieve their lifelong goals. 

IUSD is a destination district; people move here for the schools and this district is growing in enrollment every year. We have the highest test scores in the county, and in 2018, 2015 and 2014 our high school received the prestigious Honor Roll Star School by California Business for Education Excellence Foundation award. 

As we continue to grow I promise to use my experience and expertise to continue moving our community toward a bright future. My focus is on

addressing needs and finding solutions (which includes working with our parents and community partners) to improve our childrens’ educational experience and making education a priority.
